Zonos app for Japan Post shippers

Use the Zonos app to pay U.S. duties and generate your Japan Post shipping documents before visiting the post office.

As of August 29, 2025, a U.S. executive order requires all shipments into the U.S. to be assessed duty. This includes postal shipments. As of July 24, 2026, the duty prepayment requirement applies to all Japan Post shipments valued under $2,500 USD (up from $800 USD). You are required to prepay U.S. duties before your shipment leaves Japan.

The Zonos app allows Japan Post shippers to quickly pay U.S. duties and generate the shipping label and documents you need to ship to the U.S.

What is the Zonos app?

The Zonos app is a free app that allows individuals and small businesses to pay duties, generate a Japan Post shipping label, and get proof of duty prepayment (called a Declaration ID)—all before visiting the post office.

The app supports localized payment methods and is available in 19 languages.

Estimate duties without shipping

The Zonos app includes a duty calculator that lets you estimate U.S. duties on any item without committing to a shipment. This is not part of the shipping flow. It's a standalone tool that's useful if you want to check duty costs before you're ready to ship.

In account settings, you can configure your app settings and manage your account.
