Create shipping labels

If you want to fulfill an order in its entirety, you will use the following steps:

1. In Dashboard, click Orders.
2. Click the order that you need to create the label for.
3. Click Create label.
4. Verify the ship-to and ship-from address, boxes, and item details are accurate.
   1. If you need to add a second label, you can do so by clicking Add box below the boxes dropdown.
   2. To insure the shipment, check Declared value in the Boxes section. On FedEx and UPS you can declare a value per carton and choose which items go in each—see Declare value per carton.
5. Confirm the service level or change the service level.
   1. You can only select service levels that are valid for a carrier based on the shipment details that you confirmed for the shipment.
6. Label options:
   1. Shipping options: Depending on the carrier, additional options may be available, such as requiring a signature, declaring alcohol or lithium batteries, or enabling Saturday delivery. For DHL shipments, you can also check Contains dangerous goods and choose a dangerous goods category to declare regulated goods on the label.
   2. Electronic export information (EEI): International transaction number (ITN) support, which may be required if shipping a product over 2500 USD.
   3. Additional options:
      • Invoice number
      • Purchase order number
      • Recipient Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number
7. On the right-hand side of the page, select the label format and size you wish to generate using the dropdowns.
   1. Zonos supports PDF and ZPL as well as 4x6 and 4x8 options as those are universally accepted for the carriers we can generate labels for.
8. Click Create label.

Dangerous goods categories (DHL) 

The Contains dangerous goods option under Shipping options is available for DHL shipments only—it does not appear for other carriers. It covers the "low-risk" or exempt classes of regulated goods: items that are technically regulated but ship under a special provision or quantity exemption. Choose the category that matches your shipment:

Declare value per carton (FedEx and UPS) 

Declared value tells the carrier what the goods are worth for loss-or-damage liability. Check Declared value in the Boxes section to turn it on.

For FedEx and UPS, you can declare a value per carton so each package is covered for its own contents:

• Assign items to a carton by dragging them, or use the Move to carton selector on each item. Items you haven't placed yet appear under Unassigned items.
• Check Declare value for this carton on each carton you want to insure. The value defaults to the total of that carton's items and can be edited; leave a carton unchecked to skip it.
• The total declared value can't exceed the shipment's total item value, and every carton that has items needs dimensions and weight before you can create the label.

For DHL and Canada Post, and for kit orders, declared value applies once to the whole shipment rather than per carton. Canada Post is entered in CAD.

Residential vs. commercial delivery (FedEx) 

FedEx applies a residential delivery surcharge when the recipient is a residential address. Whether a shipment is treated as residential or commercial comes from the property type on the ship-to party.

• In Dashboard: use the Residential address checkbox under the ship-to party information on the create label page. Leave it unchecked for a business (commercial) delivery.
• Via API: set propertyType on the destination party when you create it—COMMERCIAL for businesses, RESIDENTIAL for consumers.

If you wish to partially fulfill an order, use the following steps:

1. In Dashboard, click Orders.
2. Click the order that you need to create the label for.
3. Click Create label.
4. Update the quantities for the items you are fulfilling under Items.
   1. If you aren't shipping an item from the order, make the quantity zero.
5. Verify the ship-from and ship-to address, box, and item details are accurate.
   1. If you need to add a second label, you can do so by clicking Add box below the boxes dropdown.
6. Confirm the service level or change the service level.
   1. You can only select service levels that are valid for a carrier based on the shipment details that you confirmed for the shipment.
7. On the right-hand side of the page, select the label format and size you wish to generate.
   1. Zonos supports PDF and ZPL as well as 4x6 and 4x8 options as those are universally accepted for the carriers we can generate labels for.
8. Click Create label.

You will now see a tracking number and label for the items that were fulfilled with that shipment. You will have the option to fulfill the remaining items by repeating the same process until all items in the order are shipped.
